Golf course

Designed in 1963, our beautifully maintained 18-hole private golf course offers the perfect environment for a round with friends or a competitive match. To ensure our course remains relevant for today’s golfers, renovations are ongoing under the expert guidance of renowned course architect, Ian Andrew. Ian has developed a reputation for the renovation and restoration of many of Canada’s greatest courses and is the mastermind behind Weir Golf Design. The latest improvements to our course were completed in 2025.

Carleton has a strong reputation for its pristine fairways and challenging, manicured greens, thanks to our exceptional Course Superintendent, Joel Trickey, and his team. Joel has been with Carleton since the mid 1990s and is widely considered to be one of the region’s best at what he does. “Anyone who has played our course will tell you that it’s both very playable and a good test of skill,” says Joel. “Our commitment to providing our members with a great golf experience is why we place such emphasis on having excellent course conditions and why we work with experts like Ian. We want to ensure that Carleton continues to offer an enjoyable and challenging golf experience not only today, but well into the future”.
“Great conditions, and a really challenging and interesting set of greens. Add to it a magnificent view from the clubhouse and a walkable design and you’ve got a really good member course.” – Ian Andrew, Golf Architect

DRESS CODE POLICY

Guiding Principle

The standard across all areas of the club is clothing that is neat, appropriate, and fitting for the club. On the course and practice facilities, this means golf attire. In the clubhouse and dining areas, this means neat, everyday clothing — golf attire, casual shirts, clean denim, and comfortable footwear are all welcome.

When in doubt, ask yourself: Would this be appropriate at a well-regarded golf club? If yes, you’re likely fine. If uncertain, our team is always happy to help.

Golf Course & Practice Facilities

The standard on the course and practice facilities is Appropriate Golf Attire — clothing designed and intended for the game of golf, as commonly seen on professional tours and sold by recognized golf retailers. It should be neat, in good repair, and worn as intended.

Appropriate golf attire includes:

  • Golf shirts (collared, mock-neck, or sleeveless)
  • Golf sweaters, vests, quarter-zip or half-zip pullovers, hoodies, and weather-appropriate outerwear
  • Golf pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, or dresses designed for golf
  • Golf shoes with soft spikes or spikeless soles
  • Hats and visors with the bill facing forward

Not Permitted on the Golf Course:

  • Denim
  • Clothing not designed for golf (e.g., t-shirts, gym shorts, sweatpants)
  • Clothing with offensive language or graphics
  • Metal-spiked footwear, bare feet
